I have an Arlo base station (5000r6) and several Ultra cameras attached to it.  I am trying to connect an Essential Outdoor camera (2nd gen) but the app only gives me the option to connect to WiFi when I go through the adding device process.  How do I connect it to the base station like my other cameras?  Thanks

Base Station/SmartHub compatibility is now available for Arlo 2nd generation devices. For those that already have your Arlo 2nd generation device onboarded, you will need to remove the device from your Arlo account and re-onboard to see the option to sync with your Base Station/SmartHub. The following firmware or newer is required for this integration.

Compatibility list:
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Outdoor - VMC2050, VMC2052 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_85f53f3
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Outdoor 2K - VMC3050, VMC3052– Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_85f53f3
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Indoor - VMC2060 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_0e78ae4
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Indoor 2K - VMC3060 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_0e78ae4
Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Generation - AVD3001 / AVD4001 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1059_eb10395

Compatible Base Station/SmartHub:
Base Station VMB4000 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4591_0201bb2
Base Station VMB4500 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4541_0201bb2
SmartHub VMB4540 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_1680_0201bb2
SmartHub VMB5000 – Firmware:  1.25.0.1_1762_0201bb2

You can't - the 2nd gen cameras don't support base stations yet.  Arlo says they will add that, but they haven't said when.

For how long has Arlo been saying that connecting them to base stations is in the works?  Do we really expect it to happen anytime soon?

What is the benefit of connecting to my base station vs wifi?

Thanks!

Since the cameras were introduced in September 2023.  No idea when they will actually get to it.

Your smarthub supports local storage.   If you connect to wifi, you lose that feature for the camera.

No Additional Cost is the Reason I Choose Arlo. But Not Anymore

I bought the 1st Gen Arlo Pro.

It still recording after the trail.

Bought Essential 2nd Gen from Costco month ago.

After trial expired, Essential now not recording, It only can do 2 things now

1st send you the notification

2nd show the live camara.

I feel like i been cheated.

At the time I bought the Arlo Essential, never think about the Returning, I dumped my Arlo Box, now I regrated, I should keep my Box for Return.

Arlo won't be my 1st choice, unless they fixing the basic feature for "basic" family member like me.

No Additional Cost is the Reason I Choose Arlo.
