Difficult AC plug adaptor

I bought the Indoor camera back in November last year and haven't needed to use it until now. I've just gone and got it out of the box to set up and I simply cannot put the two pieces of this adaptor together. The bottom slides and clicks into place, but the top doesn't locate and therefore isn't put together properly. I've lots of force and it's simply not going together, this is the UK plug. I've also tried the European socket bit and that fits.  However, I do have the camera up and running as I am using the adaptor that came with the floodlight, but, I'd still like to put this adaptor together....somehow. Is this a common fault with these? If it is a common fault, I'd like a replacement please.
