Brought home the Arlo Baby today was in love until I realized the live view has some video quality glitches. From reading others posts on this topic I came to understand that it is WiFi related. Putting my phone into LTE fixes the issue. It's nice to know nothing is wrong with the hardware I just purchased but what is being done to fix this issue?
On top of everything I just got things stabilized with my home router the Netgear Orbi system. Netgear giving me lots of headaches lately.

I can provide video or screenshots if necessary. In summary Arlo baby live view sucks on wifi. All my other Arlo cameras are workinh perfectly fine.

New firmware has been made available that should help with the pixilation issue being discussed here. Take a look at these firmware release notes and make sure your Arlo Baby is up to date with the latest version: Arlo Baby - 1.8.5.3_21226- 17th October 2018

We also experience this issue and have for months. I don’t expect they’ll fix it any time soon. Their ability to fix bugs is mediocre at best.

I don’t think they can fix it, and that’s why the display screen has been canned, as principally using the same technology I think. They mentioned interferenance as a reason why the display screen was cancelled. I wouldn’t expect to ever be resolved given they have given up on the screen now.

Very frustrating. I am still within my return window so I guess I should take it back.

UPDATE: During a discussion with technical support today i was told this is a "limitation of the arlo baby" that the engenieers are aware of. Digging deeper though, it relates to my home WiFi router (Netgear Orbi) is meshing the 2 and 5 ghz together and causing issues. Long story short if you are watching on a device that uses the same wifi frequency as the Arlo baby you are going to have issues.

That’s not the answer I’m afraid. My Arlo Baby is on 2.4 ghz my iPhone X is on 5ghz and still has the pixelated live view

I’m having the same issue. Doesn’t happen when I’m on LTE, so it is some kind of WiFi related bug. I didn’t have this problem my first month of owning Arlo Baby that I noticed. New problem.

Try switching your Arlo or your viewing device to your guest network if you have one.

Can confim the pixilization bug, although it is not related to 5ghz/2.4 ghz. I am on a dedicated non-mesh 5ghz band and have this problem.

Hi all. I have the same issue. Very heavy pixelization, to the point I cant see if my child is in the picture or not. (pic attached).

I’m using a Ubiquiti Unifi 5ghz access point next to the camera. So it’s not my hardware.

Is this a joke Netgear? Or just a piss take? A baby monitor that works better on an external network (LTE) rather than the super fast internal home network. REALLY?! The internal network where you are always with your baby. When do I need to check on my baby from outside my home? When I leave my baby at home?!

So, what’s weird is that after reading everything I could from posts, support articles, reviews, etc, some people’s camera obviously work fine. In a post a guy says “..it worked fine for a month, now it doesn’t..” Many reviewers saying this is the ‘mac daddy’ of baby cameras, they couldn’t all be paid by Netgear to lie.

Also, when I use the Homekit app to view the camera live feed it’s always much clearer. Why is this? So that’s now my default app for viewing the live feed. Although you still need to use the arlo app when you need audio when your phone is locked.

What does this tell us..

Why haven’t Netgear given us a good explanation? Can this be fixed with a firmware update and maybe an app update?

Support for the pixelization from Netgear is laughable:

1. Turn Bluetooth off - really, REALLY?! I understand about signal interference and this makes no difference when tried.

2. Use 5ghz wifi - this I can understand, but no change when using either 2.4 or 5, I have tried.

...this is such a massive piss take. I’m angry that I moved away from Nokia Home cameras (another awful camera, with all support dropped by Nokia) And now after much headaches and money spent on an access point, and the Arlo Baby Cam itself. I find myself missing the Nokia cameras. At least I could make out what I was looking at.. just, when the camera would actualy connect.

Why are baby cameras so bad.

Sorry this rant went on far too long, i thank you for reading.

This is not good enough Netgear. Part of your company specialises in networking ffs. Someone had better of been fired when they presented the beautiful new Arlo Baby Cam and the technician said “..but errr, the only problem is errr, that it doesn’t work on your home wifi network..”

I’ve decided to go a different route.. surveillance system (which is less expensive than it sounds - a cheap wifi camera and software on my NAS, so far quality is excellent, sound is ok, and camera never fails to load. Only problem is when the app is shut, the sound also stops. When I can get round this, i will be set.

I’m calling support now and getting my mf’ing money back.

Thanks.

I have this problem with google wifi

I tried creating a guest network and it does solve the problem but it takes over a minute to connect to live view on the guest network.

I gave up and rather see live view pixelated in an instant rather than waiting one minute later. This is driving me nuts!

No refund from Netgear. Spoke to the most unhelpful woman on the phone, the only line she repeated over and over was 'you need faster internet sir', and flat out refused to give me any sort of refund.

Called Apple, spoke to the most helpful person who immediatly said Apple would refund the product even though it was outside the 14 day return period.

Left an almighty review on the Apple Store website regarding the Arlo, and praised Apple for the refund.

..Back to the Nokia Home Cameras, still pretty bad quality but now hardwired into the network, much more reliable.
