Is their a rule of thumb for distance required between the doorbell and a camera?

Installed my doorbell. Noticed the recording of the linked camera is jumpy. Is their a rule of thumb for distance required between the doorbell and a camera? Wondering if they are too close and that's affecting the quality of recording.

Mine is several feet away but I don't know of a minimum distance. How close is yours? What happens if the camera records by itself and not because of the doorbell?
