I have saved a video from the Arlo app on my iPhone- when I try to share it I get an error message

i have searched and seen that this error has been present for several years. Will there ever be a resolution?

thanks

Can you update the iPhone and see if the behavior is still seen?

Are you seeing the video when you look on icloud.com???

Hi

it uploads to iCloud fine and is available on other devices

I can share the copy on my iPad - but the original on the iPhone still has the error.

Is this a downloaded video or are you sharing it straight from the app? Are you seeing this with just that video or is it all videos?

Hi

its a picture downloaded from the app to the iPhone photos library.

i cannot share the picture using the iPhone share menu in the photos app.

videos work as expected.

On your iPhone try logging out of your iCloud and logging back in. And then try to share the video.

Hi

videos share fine - the problem is with the jpg images

logging in and out of iCloud makes no difference to that I’m afraid

I was mistaken at the start of the thread - I got the error trying to share an image

Is it all images? Or just that one particular image?

Hi - it’s all images, every time anything is saved..

thanks

All images even images that are not Arlo or only saved Arlo images?

No just the saved ones from the Arlo app

Are you using iOS?  If so, do you have space in iCloud?

Hi

yes it’s iOS and yes there is plenty of iCloud space

as I have said I’ve checked all candidate issues

the error is  simple to replicate - take a still from Arlo camera, save it using Arlo app then go to the photos app and try to share it in iMessage etc.

there is an error.

the problem is with the Arlo app - the jpg saved clearly has erroneous metadata (share examines the metadata). As I’ve also said - when I access the same picture on another device (ie it’s been uploaded to iCloud and downloaded) it can be shared (so the iCloud transfer has fixed the metadata) - it obviously doesn’t fix it on the original iPhone…

thanks

I am able to replicate this on my own iPhone. Let me look into this further and I will post an update soon.

You can share the video/picture straight from he Arlo app as a work around for now.

This is still an issue. Was a fix shared?

Is there enough storage in your iCloud account to store the video?

It’s an image not a video. But yes. I’m using 80 gb on 2 tb of room

At present I either share through app or take screen grab and share. But it’d be nice to be able to share as was done before. I think I lost functionality around time OP posted ^^

I'm a bit confused on the details of what you are doing.

This works on my iphone (likely several variations would also work)

  1. download the recording to the phone from the Arlo app.  After downloading it appears in my iCloud account as well as being on the iphone
  2. select the video in the camera app
  3. email the video.

This is on an iPhone 12 mini running iOS 17.4.
