I am seeing a bunch of IFTTT for Arlo regarding motion regarding motion, but I just want my Amazon Echo (Alexa) to say something if Arlo detects a PERSON, bonus points for after dark.  Does anyone know how to do that? (It doesn't have to be IFFTTT)

I searched the Internet, and it gave me the below instructions, BUT Alexa only gives the option to detect motion, not specifically a person (Step 3.3).

Step 1: Enable Arlo Skill on Alexa

  1. Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  2. Go to the More menu (three lines or hamburger icon) and tap Skills & Games.
  3. Search for the Arlo skill and enable it.
  4. Log in with your Arlo account credentials and authorize the connection.

Step 2: Set Up Person Detection Notifications

  1. In the Arlo app, configure the camera(s) to detect a person:
    • Go to Settings > Smart Notifications.
    • Choose your camera and enable Person detection (if you have Arlo Smart or Arlo Secure subscription).

Step 3: Create an Alexa Routine

  1. Open the Alexa app and go to More > Routines.
  2. Tap the + icon to create a new routine.
  3. Set a Trigger:
    • Tap When this happens > Smart Home > Arlo Camera.
    • Select the camera and choose the Person detected option.
  4. Set an Action:
    • Tap Add action > Alexa says > Custom.
    • Type what you want Alexa to announce, e.g., "A person was detected near the front door!"
  5. Choose which Echo device will make the announcement under From.
  6. Save the routine.

Optional: Fine-Tuning

  • Schedule: If you want notifications only during certain hours, add a Schedule to the routine.
  • Do Not Disturb: Ensure your Echo devices are not in Do Not Disturb mode during active hours.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I have a subscription

Turns out, one has to go to the Alexa App and turn on Notifications per camera.

There is no option for person only in the Alexa app.  I am going to test later on if turning off all the notifications except for Person on the Arlo side makes a difference.  However, I did successfully test it in general, and a notification came to a specific Echo that I indicated.

I am also going to test a SMART HOME routine later.
