When I am home, I do not want all of the cameras recording and using all of my wireless data plan.  Am I able to turn off the recording without deleting a rule?

You don't delete the rules... you just change the MODE.  One of the default MODES is ALL MOTION OFF ( or sim named)... just log in and go to the mode page and pick that one... all recordings by motion will stop.

I don't see that option in mode. All I see is schedule, home and awake, sleeping. When I am in and out of the house spin yardwork it sucks up my batteries.... So a quick way to temporarily disable the motion detection for one camera would be useful.

Sounds like you somehow deleted the default modes of All motion on and off.  You can recreate them easily and then select them as you would any other mode.  In any event, there's no "one-button push" way to stop recording - you'd have to go into the Mode page and deselct schedules as well select whatever mode turns off recording.

Ochrecrimson,

The base station needs to be reset and your cameras re-synced.

Please ensure that you are at the location of the base station in order to carry out this solution.

  1. Reset the base station by holding a paperclip in the Reset hole at the back of the base station. Do this for about 10 seconds, until the LEDs all go amber.

  2. Once your base station has restarted and the two left-most LEDs (Power and Internet) are once again green, sync your cameras to the base station one at a time.

The steps above should correct your Modes. All Motion On means all of your cameras will be enabled to detect motion. All Motion Off disables motion detection for all cameras. You may also create Custom Modes, if you wish to only enable motion for some of your cameras.

When the camera detects motion, the red camera and red running man activate, and usually run for 10 seconds (my time setting), then stop and return to record wait status. However, sometimes the red camera continues to flash for long periods of time and the only way I know to stop it is to click on the arrow in the center of the screen and activate live mode...then go back to motion detect (which fixes the problem). Anyone kow how to fix this?

Is it possible that it's still recording because more motion was detected? This would create more videos in your library. However, if not, it sounds like a display problem. App or browser? If it's the app, try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Well my cameras will not turn off.  Eventhough the no motion as selected and checked Arlo system continued to eat data, using all my date in the two days it was installed and "off".  Obviously there is no customer service phone.  This system sucks if you do not have unlimited data.

hikndog,

Check the "running man" icon on the cameras screen to make sure it shows as grey instead of green. Green indicates motion detection/recording is enabled. Set the active mode to all motion off if you do not want your cameras to detect and record motion.
