I am being alerted to motion detection, and when I go to my cameras, the 'last still' imagae shows someone on my dorrstep... but then there is no recording and i don;t get the second alert to the recording. It's detecting the motion but not recording..
plenty of space and battery is full
it is sporadic..
what is the deal?>??

I think they are in the middle of an update. I got a bunch of motion notification and none of my videos where in my library. They all started showing up now though and when you go on their website it looks like Arlo has done a complete redesigning.

Yup. I am getting something similar:
1. I never got alerted (!!!) when I passed in front of my camera this morning.
2. The thumbnail on the camera is updated with my movement but there is no video recorded.
Something is busted.

Hello @leonejames1, @Ebuon and @negated,
Thank you for reporting your experience. Our Engineering team also observed this issue during our update process but should now be resolved. Can you confirm this issue is no longer occurring and motion detection clips are being captured as expected?
I look forward to your updates.
Best Wishes!
Christine

Bugma,
On the cameras screen what color is the running man for each camera? Grey indicates motion detection is not active while black indicates motion detection is active. If your running man is grey check your active mode to make sure it includes a rule telling that camera to record upon detecting motion. Please let us know if you continue to experience issues.

I'm having the same issue. I confirmed that the rules are set up for both of my cameras to record for 30 sec upon motion detection. I am not receiving notifications nor recordings in the library. The running man shos motion detection is active.

I've had the same issue off and on. I am getting occasional videos, but it is not consistent since the udpate. The videos that are captured have a significant delay (i.e. they show no approach, but show someone leaving just before they disappear from camera range). Additionally I have only gotten one push notification on my Apple watch since the update.

Kauntee2long,
When live streaming the motion detection/recording is disabled. If you wish to record a live stream you must manually do so by clicking the record button. Once the stream is ended, the camera will go back to whatever mode you have set. This is intended behavior.

This problem is still an issue for a great many users. I am recieving notifications without any recordings in my library. All settings are correct according to instructions included with my system as well as community posts. My rules are set correctly for motion detection and are armed and I have altered the location of the devices to have a better and clearer angle to one another. I only have 2 cameras and neither are reporting correctly. With each new update something else goes wrong or I lose more fucntionality.
Is there a way to combine all of these posts so that they get noticed? I have replied to more than one of these same posts regarding the same issue. Anytime I have received a "solution" it has come from the community itself teaching eachother and not from an update, engineer, or customer service agent. Am I undertanding correctly that the community of consumers who purchased this product are infact the customer support model of Arlo?
This particular issue cannot be resolved through customers speaking to one another. We need more informative instructions if we as the customer are doing something wrong or an update to provide a fix to a enormous problem.

nickomash,
Have you tried viewing your library from different devices (PC, different mobile device). Can you produce a manual recording by clicking live stream and clicking the record button?

Question #1; Yes.
Wife's iPhone 6, my Galaxy S5, Wife's Laptop, my gaming rig, accessing via the web via our work PC's... all are the same.
Question #2; Yes.
I can record a live stream. I can delete, share, etc.
I have gone through a complete unplug, reset, reconnect, retry three times with this system. I still get notifications and with no recorded video. I can even jump infront of the camera and cause a notification and then return to the library and not see anything being recorded. This is quite easy to reproduce as I only have to try 4-5 times. Currently I get about 1/5 of my notificatiions actually recording. It doesnt help deleting all previous recordings either. At first I thought we were out of cloud space, but tested that too and no change.

I ordered this from an online store that will not accept it as a return as its opened.
I have tried so hard to get these cameras even remotely functional and have spent hours each weekend repositioning, aligning, reading, testing, light conditions, distance optimization, etc. I do not regret much, but to be perfectly honest these cameras make me physcially ill just looking at them. I spent ~$400 and convinced my wife that these were a logical answer to security concerns we are having. Not only do I feel stupid, Netgear/Arlo have proven me to be stupid.
I think I have approx. 16 hours of troubleshooting this system. My wife says with the time I have spent reading forums and reviews I have 40+ hours involved in educating myself on this product.
My point is I was misinformed on the below issues. Now remember, I do have ~ 16-40 hours of testing this system in various conditions indoor and outdoor, day and night, using Apple, Android, Windows 7 & 10, and different web browsers. We have a decent internet package and wifi router via an AT&T Uverse 18Mbs connection.
Pros:
Sometimes one of the cameras record video.
Issues/Cons:
Notifications to motion detections with no recorded video in library
2 Cameras cannot record simultaneously.
Cold weather/Outdoor use reduces battery usage by 25-36%.
The cameras have a motion pick up delay of approx. 6.5 seconds - never (The camera will detect motion and not turn the device on for 6.5 seconds or not at all.)
The install time could be less than 15min. or somewhere between 16 and 40 hours without full functionality.
120 second limit to the length of motion detected video recording.
The definition of inconsistent in that recorded video length, Day/Night mode switching, and magnetic stability to mounts are all easily brought to mind.
I feel as though I have been scammed out of $396 USD. I am a intelligent consumer, as far as you know, and tried to get this system working. I wanted this system to work. Trust me, I had motivation to do so. At this point I just want my money back.
** This is important to mention again;
The cameras have a motion pick up delay of approx. 6.5 seconds - never (The camera will detect motion and not turn the device on for 6.5 seconds or not at all.) I can recreate this issue with ease. and I recommend those with these systems to test this themselves as I think it maybe something users are taking for granted. I have came home from work, walked up the side walk, stood and waved at this camera, received a notification on my android device of motion detected and yet;
(Mind you I should have been on camera for over 15 seconds by now.)
1. never received any recorded video in my library of anything.
2. received video of the top of my head as I am walking into the home after unlocking the door.
3. Received video of nothing but the normal frame of front yard without any motion whats so ever.
This is a deal breaker for 90% of your users IMO and I cannot be the only person experiencing this. If I do not receive a refund or at the very least a fix for these major issues I will have to modify this post into a review and educate people the way that I have been on this product.

As some of you may have already witnessed we are experiencing intermittent performance issues with live streaming and accessing the library. Our Engineers are working on it and will provide and update once resolved. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
