newer version of flash required

msg says a newer version flash player required. Updated flash arlo still won't work because it needs a newer version of flash. Updated flash, cold boot. Arlo still won't work because it needs a newer version of flash. Running Win7 w/ Firefox 41.01, Shockwave Flash version 19.0.0.207 enabled. Now we all know that Flash is a really ugly program but ugly programs are generally the work of really ugly programers. And to find after 2 trouble free days of arlo, it won't function because it needs a newer version of Flash. Ugly and stupid.

Flash is a pain, sometimes.

I'm assuming we're Windows.

Remove Flash and restart.

Use Internet Explorer to reinstall Flash. There's something about the symbiotic relationship between IE and Windows that makes this necessary.

Restart.

Bring up Firefox.

Get the Flash plugin.

That should do it.

Thanks for all the responses including the nuclear option "change operating systems" <grin> As most know, Flash has been increasingly a problem. The rants continue from Steve Jobs, to the article in maximumpc this month, to the latest 24 hr Flash hack posted 10/19/15.

Here's the real Firefox answer after a quick search, just didn't have time to get back to everyone. New versions of Firefox block Flash by default. Goto Addons Manager, select Plugins, select Shockwave Flash options and then select "Enable Adobe Flash Protected Mode". Arlo will then recognize the newest version of Flash and allow viewing video from w/in Firefox browser.

So next question for Arlo. When are you going to transfer to html5?

2. Adobe Flash

While Adobe isn’t completely doing away with Flash, it decided to rebrand Flash Professional CC as Animate CC. So while the company’s Flash content creation tools are still around, Adobe this year firmly signaled its intention to provide developers with more serious HTML5 tools. In short, 2015 is the year that Adobe Flash’s demise was put into overdrive.

Flash of course has been slowly dying for some time now, thanks in part to Apple’s longstanding reluctance to support the technology on its line of iOS devices. Going forward, Adobe said that it wants to “encourage content creators to build with new web standards.” Translation? Even Adobe knows that it’s an HTML5 world.

So come on netgear developers, get with it.
