Why are some videos record time coming up short. I have 2 cameras and both are set for 20 seconds. A few times one or the other camera will stop recording after 8 seconds or 18 seconds or anywhere in between ?

I've had a few of these, too, but not often. I wonder if it's an Internet connectivity thang - ISP having issues low data transfer speeds (1Mb/sec minimum), etc.

Something different started this morning. Received a notification from Arlo in my email this morning. When playing the video it stops at 13 seconds then again at 17 seconds. It's like pausing the video at these two points. Each pause will wait about 10 seconds and then continue. Is this problem associated with my original problem, if so, does anyone have any ways to correct both problems ?

In another thread, a recording was interrupted on purpose to see what happens. The video is available up to the interruption and then stops. My assumption for your problem is that the connection to the server got interrupted. Could be anything between the camera and the server. Since no one else is complaining, I'd surmise it's on your end, possibly the ISP.

jguerdat, I'll keep my eye on this, but it would seem to me if the server got interupted during filming there would be a second or two of video missing. It's all there, it just pauses and then continues then pauses again then finishes.

I understand where you're coming from. I believe what would happen would be for a complete stoppage of one video which would be possibly continued when movement occurred to start a second video. That's just my impression, though, and certainly not confirmed fact. If so, there would be no pause but multiple videos. If you're simply seeing "stuttering", meaning a pause in one video, then I'm all wet.

I'd redo the test and get it to continue, but the camera would have to re-sync and prob wouldn't work.
In the original test there was a 10 second continued count timer on the screen( no change in video ) until it gave the messg of 'cam timed out'... Since it did reconize the lack of cam feed, I would guess it would have restarted on it's own until the camera timed out. This would cover a burp in the system/internet

Thank you TomMac for your reply. The problem seems to be getting worse. I'm wondering if I'm not getting interference from a game camera that I have mounted between a Arlo camera and the Arlo router ? Video

picture worth a thousand works... First time I've seen that type of video smearing/jump. (wonder if it's occuring on the key frame and compression overload)
It could be interference. I guess you know the cameras run on 2.4g wifi ( 802.11n ) and are prone to anything in the same band range if stronger then the base.
If you game cam runs on wifi, then maybe move it around or just turn off the game cam for a short while to see if if occurs again.
If it continues, send the vid to Netgear and see what they say.

I have relocated the the Arlo router away from computer and I am going to power down my game cam to see what happens. The game cam does not run on wi-fi, it stores the video on a 32GB Sandisk. Will return late this afternoon with results.

Sorry I'm a day late. After turning game cam off and moving Arlo router further away from PC, there is no change. I just took a walk outside to trigger camera and here's one of the videos. I guess next step is to notify support. Thanks for your help.Video

I've been trying to email support for the last few days to enclude the two videos so they could see my problem. Now a new problem arises in that when I try to "Drop Us a Line" it gives me " The website cannot display the page".

Hmmm... Works fine for me. Try clearing the browser cache and see if it helps.

Could be a temporary drop in connection, server problem, live view interrupting recording, etc. I occasionally get short recordings, too, but not too often that isn't provoked by live view or upload issues.

Any idea as to why recording ceased "9 hours ago"? Also understand that I might have missed critical updates that were to be sent around 5 a.m.

It's hard to say since it varies by installation. Positioning is very important with distance and motion direction being paramount. Maybe a screenshot would help, identifying where the important parts are. Motion should be across the field of view, not directly at the camera. Nighttime distance helps if it's 10-15 feet max. If you have a porch light on, that could help.
