Arlo HD security camera for exteior

It seems these cameras don't detect motion until something is really close.  I want to be able to get a recording if someone is breakinng into my car in the drive way but I could stand next to it and through a rock through the window and the camer does not pick it up, but a little breeze on a shub sets it off  (tested at 80 to 100 % motion).  Is this really the best it can do?

In my tests, the PIR has about a max range of 20 ft for people... Try not to cover to much area with the camera
