Hello,

Has anyone experienced spotty performance in the last few weeks with alerting via the app to an iPhone?  It seems that at times, I will stop getting alerts from one or more of my cameras.  Sometimes a reboot of the base station will solve it and other times I must kill the app and open again.  Regardless, it's very annoying as I generally find out after I missed something I wanted to know about.  The odd thing is the event is being captured and recorded.  However, it sort of kills the alerting and detection which is very much part of the value in my home.

in general, I've seen less than stellar performance with the cloud platform Arlo is running on as well as numerous bugs in the last couple of months.  Any suggestions or help is appreciated!

lbjfoot1,

Are you keeping the app running on your phone? Push notifications will only come through if the app is running, if you log out or force close the app this would stop push notifications from arriving.

Are you getting email notifications when experiencing this issue?

JamesC,

I do not keep the app open at all times. Sometimes it's running, and sometimes it is not. However, I will say that I disagree that push notifications only come through when the app is open. I just tested with it open and closed and the alerts came through in both scenarios. When I have experience the issue the app has certainly been running as I have tested with it open as well as while sitting and watching the camera start recording and the video showing up. I don't have email notifications setup as I find that to be very overwhelming to manage. Push alone works great for me (when it works).

A little clarification - "closing the app" means simply backgrounding it.  Be sure to specifically NOT log out.

Agreed on that. Now that we are in agreement, how about my original question? Any suggestions?

Android?  😄

Seems like iOS may be having a problem recently. Make sure your device and app are up to date. Incompatibilities may occur otherwise.

I have not seen any problems on the latest IOS ( 9.3.1 and 9.3.2 ) on a g3 Ipad...

All pushes have been woking fine.

Of course as mentioned, swipe out of Arlo to put in background if exiting via the settings page "logout" is a different story.

Thanks for replies thus far.  I run all iPhones on 9.3.2.  To be clear here, I believe this to be an Arlo software issue.  In fact, my first support case ended with the engineer telling me they are having issues.  They asked that I open this post as the Arlo engineers that monitor these boards are more in the flow for what updates are rolling when.  This is a change since the lastest software changes have been rolling.  Two main issues:

-Inconsistent performance on alerting via the App

-Inconsisten performance by Arlo cloud on video upload and accessibility

Thanks!

lbjfoot1,

Like TomMac says above I have not been able to replicate any push notification issues on iOS. Are you still experiencing this?

I would like to take a look at the case you have open with support, if you could, please private message me your case number.
