Squirrel physically defends frightened chicken from two small hawks!

Being in the center of Tulsa, OK we don't see many chickens running about, but apparently one escaped from a neighbor's coop in the city a month ago and showed up in our yard. But then things really got weird.

Have you ever seen a squirrel physically defend a chicken from two small hawks? Well I hadn't either until I watched the camera playback after hearing this ruckus on my front porch! I thought I was going to open the door to a cat fight, but without the cameras I would never have seen the chicken or the selfless heroics of the squirrel!

Good news is the chicken survived and made it back home just yesterday after a month of very challenging freedom!
