The recommended upstream bandwidth for Arlo is 1Mbps. This is the minimum requirement to insure that Arlo will function and work correctly. In some cases the Arlo system may function under the minimum requirements. But the functionality and video quality may not be consistent with what the user is expecting. Response time for motion detection, e mail notifications, and push notifications may be delayed and received later than expected. Scheduling motion detection may not trigger when expected due to the upstream low bandwidth. Video quality may be pixelated and unclear. The lower the upstream bandwidth the greater the issues will be with the Arlo system. I hope this answers your question.

Can you expand on this? What does you internet connection have to do with Response time for motion detection? Does the Camera's PIR motion detector report a "Motion Detected" to the base station, in turn sends the alert via your internet connection to the Arlo Servers, after which a "record" command is issued? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me this is not the case.
This would still not explain the severe lag in recording in my case. I have a dedicated 1 GIG pipe to my house...............

can't answer your question... that was a cut/paste from a Netgear emp
But as an educated guess, you have to know the travel path of data is 'round the horn' from your site to servers and back. But I don't think the PIR detect sends a request back/forth... just the video.
A small remote PIR module that keys record would possibly solve the problem... I've been able to get response down quite low outside ( about 20d angle to person movement @ 15 ft range , up 7ft) and for Inside I was able to allow one camera to start record on another (and opp ) due to an open floor plan...ymmv

This is beginning to make sense now.....
Since the recoding device is not located at your house, Im guessing SIP has to be set up between your base station and the Arlo cloud which could be causing the huge delay in recording.
I have talked to a L3 engineer at Netgear in reference to a remote motion device only, I was informed that it was in the works...

Hula, I keep questioning your use of "delay", as to me it seems more like either the threshold is reached or it is not, and the actual recording happens pretty fast once it does trigger.
I gave you a way to test this previously. Sneak up on your Arlo (out of view) and jump in front of it (like 80% blocking the view) at the same time visibly using your fingers to count up the time. (since there is no audio). Then review the Arlo recording to see how far along you were on your count before the first frame is shot.
This should tell you how 'quick' the actual signal to record (motion threshold matched) and the recording occurs.
If your hands on the video show 1 second has elapsed (or less) then you should look elsewhere for your troubleshooting than the time it takes the signal to go Netgear, etc.

Maybe I should further explain what I mean by Video Recording Delay.
In my scenario, it is approximately 25 or so feet from the street to the my front door. Netgear/Arlo states the effective range for best motion detection is a minimum of 3 feet, with a maximum of 20 feet. 20 feet would be at the far end, the start of my driveway. If I start to walk from the street to my front door you would expect the system to detect motion and start recording once I enter the cameras recommended field of view for detection to trigger recording. It detects motion, starts recording but it's too late. The PIR Motion detector does a POOR job detecting motion hence the delay in video recording. Here is a screen shot of the area in question. This is the very first frame when recording started, I made it from the street to my door and the camera caught NOTHING.
