I have two different flats that I would like to monitor using a single account. Is it a simple case of buy two base stations + cameras and installing one each in each location? From what I have read, I think this may not work as both base stations will need to be on the same network?
Thank you

Yes... but only for the setup!
Based on the service level you have the number of cameras are limited, but you can have as many bases as you want.
To setup two bases, Just do them on your home system by adding a base ( you'll need 2 ethernet ports ). Remember you can only sync the cameras to one base at a time.
Move or add one camera to make sure the second base is functioning. After verified, unplug the second base and move itto the new location ( with cameras ) and it should just be a plug into the new ethernet/internet to function...add more cameras as needed.
