We use and love the system, but after investing $650 on 5 cameras we are reluctant to buy more and then pay a subscription. We don't need the additional data plan we just need the ability to one or two more cameras without paying further subscription fees or router costs. We feel Arlo should allow its customer to add additional cameras at no additional cost if they dont require data plans.

Yes you can do it... and it has been mentioned on the site before.

If you want more than 5 cameras on the basic(free) level, you must set up two accounts with diff usernames and passwords.

Some browsers allow split screens so they can be seen all at one time but it still requires two logins.

But it will require 2 bases correct?

Yes, each account will need a complete system to be set up.  You could use the Q cameras to potentially simplify your setup if indoor cameras will work for you.
