i am stunned by the and of live policy for my arlo system ,ive bought it only 5 years ago and nobody told me that its useless after only 5 years ,i like to know if i can safe the recordings on a external hard drive ,referring to the 2 usb 2.0 connection ports on the back of the base station vmb3010

No. Although it has the two ports, the ability to save local recordings was never implemented in your base.

migrate to a 4000 base ( tho 5000 would b better ) and add a USB memory stick as backup

Yes, that would be another option (abandoning the VMB3xxx base, but keeping the cameras for now).

This is very disappointing. I'm sure there are many of us who paid good money for these cameras only to have EOL when they work just fine. I will definitely not be buying NetGear equipment in the future.
