You can connect most of the cameras to an outdoor charger 24x7.  That includes all Pro models and all Ultra models - but not the Essential.

but that is solar based, right?  I don't have a sunny location and want a permanent hook up not requiring any maintenance

No, I was thinking about the outdoor AC charger, not the solar panel.  This: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/accessories/VMA5600C-100NAS.html Or the equivalent in black.

Though unfortunately the picture doesn't show it, the adapter is integrated into the end of the cable (so not removable).
