There's a bug in the latest version of the Arlo Android app. I've been trying to report it via the support forum but they told me that they can't contact the app developers, so I'm trying here instead, in the hope that the app developers might happen upon it.

There's a way to tell the app to play a sound or vibrate when you get a notification of a motion alert etc. However, the app recently added the feature so that it will notify when it believes that it has lost its internet connection. However, that notification does not respect the settings for the sound and vibration. This means that there is no way to disable the "ping" and buzz when the connection is lost. This can be rather annoying when it happens all night long...

Can someone fix this please? Or tell me where I can go to tell the app developers about it.

Thanks,

Guess I missed this new feature. Is it something in the settings or did you must happen upon it? To make sure I understand, you're saying that the app notifies you when the base has lost connection?

No, it's when the app loses its connection (or, at least, when it thinks is does).

When the app loses its internet connection? I just turned off my wifi and mobile data and haven't had any notifications from any apps. It's been about 5 minutes

It's a little random but, after a bit of enabling/disabling wifi etc, I got it to trigger. See image below (in theory).

Strange. I get an orange one across the top of the phone when I try to launch the app without any internet connection but no notification. Can you turn the notification off in the phone settings?

I think I've gotten that on a few occasions but just quit the app and tried again.  I suppose it could be triggered by various things but it's not normal.  Just for grins, try reinstalling the app and restarting the phone.

Rebooting and reinstalling didn't help.

Note that this is different from the yellow banner present when the app is lauched; it's appearing when the app is not the foreground one. It's also a stateful alert and can't be dismissed with a swipe, like the other notifcations can. Also, also, it doesn't go away immediately, even when the launched app is clearly talking to the cameras etc.

This generally leads me to suspect that it's using a different code-path and, hence, not picking up the alert settings for that reason.

Maybe opening a case with support using the Contact Support link at the bottom here would be useful.

Alas I did, and I called them, but they said at the time that they couldn't help, which is why I ended up here.

However, they _just_ updated the request saying that they will "raise it with the team" so we'll see...

srp20,

I would like to take a closer look at the case you have open with the support team. If you could provide the case number I will review your case and offer any additional feedback that I can.

Theory time: I think that this might be related to using Geofencing to maintain status for my basestation... Not sure yet but I disabled that and the problem seems to have gone away...
