Hello

sooo i'm sure this has come up before but can't seem to sort the bad signal issue out

new set up - one camera in play

camera is 15 feet away in a light weight garage from the base unit

base unit is in a light weight construction house

i can just get 1 bar in orange on the camera setting ( if i'm lucky ) dropps connection most times , take 3-4 cracks to get it to live feed

setting advise wifi at 40%  , single strength from the base unit on my wifi setting via phone is strong allround the house and section.

sooooo why is this that bad when i was advised it could handle up to 100ft ?

That's a tough one to answer without being able to actually be there to try things.  It could be a variety of things from just an unlucky placement of the base station to other wireless devices using 2.4GHz to a bad (low power) base.  Use a WiFi monitor app - what do you find for WiFi devices and their relative strength?  The base should be as strong or stronger than pretty much anything else.  Move around while monitoring the strength - does it fall off in certain areas?  If so, moving the base, perhaps just by a few inches or maybe many feet, can help. If needed, a long Ethernet cable or a WiFi extender with an Ethernet port for the base may be useful to allow optimal positioning.

Also, be aware that a weak signal will wear the batteries down quickly so resolving this will keep you from having to replace batteries in a few days.

hmmm well the unit is plugged into a twin signal modum / router unit with strong signal .

today the system won't work at all , the app is telling me the base is offline yet i am standing next to it with full lights on and phone shows full signal. plus i am using the internet so connected .......

i have to say it seems this product does not live up to the hype....

Your router is only used for connecting the base via Ethernet.  The strength of your normal WiFi has no bearing on the signal levels between the base and cameras.  That's why I suggested using the WiFi app to check the base signal levels as you move around. My app shows the base as NTGR_VMB_xxxxxxxxxx.

I will check that , but last night i pulled the camera and put it next to the base unit ( 200mm) and the camera shows only 2 bars ......on the arlo app

That may indicate a bad camera or base.  Maybe a trouble ticket for additional troubleshooting and possible RMA?
