When I connect a external hard drive to my base station, how i get 512 files per day every day?

Can someone please tell me how when I connect a external hard drive to my base station how i get 512 files per day

Right now the best approach is to eject the drive, connect it to a PC and then copy them.

This was not my question.  I have the Hard Drive connected.  Lots of Space.  Every Day I look and I have 512 files size may vary on the amount of Data but still the exact same number of files.  512.  Seems very strange to me.

AFAIK, FAT32 allows only 512 files in the root directory but an unlimited number inside a directory. It sounds like the files aren't being placed into directories/folders.  Also, this is the area for the original wire-free cameras with a VMB3xxx base which doesn't support USB drives inspite of having USB ports. WHich base do you have?
