I am not sure, but I think the Donate is for you to send the photo or video to Arlo and thus giving them permission to use it on their website.

AFAIK, it's to donate a video to engineering to help improve something that the video captures, like ghosting, pixelization, stuttering, etc.

To clarify, when library content is donated, it is sent to the Arlo development team for research/analytics purposes. The video isn't shared with anyone outside the development team or on the Arlo website.

Be sure you have the latest version of the Arlo mobile app installed. A recent app update added a verification prompt to help prevent accidentally donating videos.
