So I just bought the Arlo Pro system that has a USB port to add a external drive.

I want to buy the internal cameras Arlo Q,  and want to know if it will take advantage of the USB Drive recording also?

Also for night time vision, does the Arlo Q use infared?  If its behind a glass window, is that an issue?

How bout if I disable night vision,  can it record at night then?  How is that quality,  and does the Arlo Q Plus do a better job of that?

Thanks

Not 100% sure, but don't believe so... Because the PRO base local record is ONLY to cameras synced to the base ( processed in the base ) and Q cam links directly to your own wifi

Yes, the Q has IR illuminators. You CAN NOT use them behind glass as the IR will reflect back washing out the picture ( btw, the Q does have very good night vision on it's own )

Yes you can record at night with normal outside lighting... quality is fairly good ( the Q+ is the same camera but has POE and mem card slot built in )

Here's an outdoor pic with 2-100w lighting 30 feet apart, plus street lights;
