To do this you need to purchase either a VMB4540 or VMB5000 smarthub.  Other models offer local recording, but NOT playback.

There are some limitations:

• local recordings can only be viewed in the app (not the web browser).
• local recordings can only be viewed from the primary account (not shared accounts).
• there are no thumbnails, recordings need to be downloaded to the phone before you can see anything.
• you cannot make manual recordings while livestreaming the cameras
• remote access requires router setting changes that many find difficult (and which will not work with some internet service providers)

Of course you also lose other subscription features, including activity zones when on battery power.

thank you for your thread.

You can use free local storage to save videos on a USB drive or microSD card connected to your Arlo SmartHub. Additionally, by setting up Direct Storage Access, you can view recordings stored on your device directly through the Arlo Secure app.
