My cameras (3) all stopped working. After trying to sync them with no luck, I deleted the base station and tried to "Add new Device"
The base station was not recognized. I followed all the suggestions, turning off router, base station, running an Ethernet cable directly to my computer. I bought a new Ethernet cable. Finally today, after having shut down everything for almost a month, I tried again to add a new device. I got as far as a screen recognized the base and asked me to name it. After I added the name and hit enter, I got an error message across the top of the screen in yellow, "Internal Error" The power light and internet light on the base are both green, occasionally the internet light blinks green. I have had this system for several years and updated it to the newer cameras after the old netgear system was deleted. I am so frustrated!! Do the base stations ever go bad?

ANy electronic device can go bad at any time. I would start by holding the reset button for >10 seconds, until the LEDs flash amber and try again.

I’ve done the total shutdown, reset, turn off numerous times. I’m hoping to hear from others regarding the life of the base station. Also, I have read that many people had problems after an update which could still be an issue but nothing I have done over the last month has helped.

I have one of these bases in use for several years but again any electronics can fail at any time. Sucks when it happens to you but it's not widespread. Use the Contact Support link at the bottom here to see if they have suggestions but you may just need a new base.

Ok Super User. I thank you for your response to my questions. I did everything that everyone mentioned and I still cannot connect to my base. I had an online chat with support today and we went through each step and her only recommendation was to buy a new base station. I have read other posts where they did exactly that and it still didn't work. I read one persons post who said the number 2 has to be in your router/wifi so I changed my wifi name to include a 2 at the end. Yes, I checked my router settings and I am on the 2. Needless to say, I had to reconfigure my printer, ooma telephone, tv, ipad, phones etc. So, I give up. I have had the Arlo cameras and systems when it was Netgear. I accepted their offer to upgrade to Arlo when they deleted Netgear. I was a longtime satisfied user. I have captured pictures of Bobcats, Rattlesnakes and other creatures of the night but I am now frustrated and will try to find a new system. My initial problems started after their latest update and I believe there lies the problem. Goodbye Arlo

First off, your WiFi has nothing to do with your Arlo system. The only thing that is needed is for the base to be connected to the router via an Ethernet cable and for your phone to be on the same network. The phone can be on either the 2.4 or 5GHz bands - it doesn't matter.
If you have green power and Internet LEDs and the Camera LED is either off or solid amber, the base is basically working. However, I had an issue a year or so ago where a new install with a used base failed just like you are seeing. The fix was to use a different basen so the suggestion to buy a new base is a good one. Just be sure you have a return privilege as a backup plan. It would be cheaper to buy a new base than it would be to go to another system. This sort of thing happens with any product...

Yes, I understand exactly what you are saying. My lights do indicate that my base is working. I really appreciate the time you take to answer peoples questions when the company is unable to do so. I spend a lot of my free time answering questions regarding genetic genealogy and it makes me feel good to help others. I just wanted to let you know you are appreciated. Arlo did offer me 30% off a complete new system but I know the new systems require a monthly fee. If they had offered 30% off a new base to go with my old system, I might have tried it but my confidence in the company is broken. Thanks again, Kathy.
