I live in a Fraternity house so the people who set up the Arlo router are long gone. We had to factory reset the router to get it to work, however there is no sticker for the default password, and the app says I have to connect to the wifi to reset it. What kind of company doesn’t put their default password sticker on a router? Do I really have to switch routers because of your incompetence?

Starting here, it is not a router. It is a gateway that connects the Arlo cameras to the Arlo Cloud.
The wifi network it creates is intentionally closed - only Arlo cameras can join it. The hub connects to the network over ethernet, and is managed either from the Arlo app or my.arlo.com on a PC. Either way, you need to log into your Arlo account to manage it.

In this situation you need to remove the hub from the Arlo account, and the add it back (either to the same or a different account).
The management device (phone or PC) needs to be connected to the local network because there is a discovery protocol that the management devices uses to "find" the hub.
