Download the videos right away, as they cannot be recovered after the retention period expires.
If you do have local storage, it'd be best to eject the storage from the base and copy the files to your PC (but still leaving them on the USB storage).

If you have a arlo legacy camera or a newer camera with a subscription plan you should be able to save the recordings to the mobile device or pc if using the website portal.
If you have the USB backup storage device enabled on the base station you can eject the device and find the recordings with a pc.
