I have a couple of cameras connected to a hub.  The subscription is not available where I life right now. I am interested in basic motion detection and local storage only.  

How can I configure my devices to do that?

Thank you, the direct storage option was on. However, looking around I noticed the View Recordings was off. Turning this on did the trick.
