Trouble syncing new system set up

I have followed the simple instructions and now see "discovering your device. Please wait." forever. The need help tab takes me back to the last screen.  I have the base starion connected to my nighthawk router and plugged in. 3 solid green lights.

You don't say what camera and you're in the Arlo cam section but it sounds like a Q camera 

 

Try and reset the Q cam by holding the reset for about 10 sec till the front led flashes Amber....the try the sync again

Actually, he mentions a base station with 3 green LEDs.  That sounds normal.

 

Are you using the app or a browser?  Try the other to see if the issue continues.  If it happens only with one method, which one is it?  If the app is the problem, try reinstalling it and restarting the phone.  If it's a browser, try a different one.

It sounds like you're unable to claim the base station during new system setup. If this is the case, consider a factory reset.. This can be done by pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the base until all LEDs flash amber. Allow the base station to come back online with a solid green power and internet LED and attempt new system setup again.

I had the same problem during setup. Turns out I was pressing the button for to long of a time. I think it is the way the instructions are written. Mine is the Arlo Wireless cameras.
