I can see only gray areas at night, spotty not clear at all. LEDs do not glow at night. But motion detection is working.

Sounds typical.  Night vision goes to grayscale, not color and, depending on your quality settings, reduces resolution.  To check the resolution, go to Settings and scroll down to Camera Settings.  Select each camera and see what setting is used for quality.  It defaults to Optimized which does lower resolution.  I use Best which prolly reduces battery life a little but not so much that I notice it.

If you can see a picture in a dark room in gray, the IRs are prob working... take the camera into a total dark room with motion activated, you'll see the red glow of leds around the lens.

here's an example... the cam is 4 feet away and the bightness is higher than normal cause the walls/cabinets are off-white/white and reflect alot of ir...

you can see the light dropping off on the sides...
