I have a VMB4540 Base station that I had setup for local recording on a USB Drive attached to my base station. My initial subscription ran out and the system has stopped recording. I thought the system would continue to record locally w/o a subscription. Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

I'd start with double-checking the base model - there should be a VMBxxxx label on it.  (Unfortunately the system sku you posted above doesn't help, as Arlo doesn't publish a list of exactly what is in those system skus).

Next, I would eject the USB storage and connect it to a PC.  Then see what recordings are present on the USB drive.  That will help sort out whether you have an access problem or a local storage problem.

When you look at the app screen, are you seeing "Library" at the bottom as on option?  Or are you seeing "Feed" and "Dashboard" instead?

Did you enable Direct Storage access in the base station settings?

Yes. It has been recording locally for awhile. I reformatted the USB drive and checked everything. When I look at a live camera and press the "record" button, I receive the message, "The request for recordings is invalid".

I am surprised that you are seeing the record button when livestreaming. Manual recordings aren't stored locally, and require a subscription.

Have you tested with motion recordings?
