I have an older Arlo Base station (VMB-3000) and would like to replace it with another extra Arlo Pro Base station (VMP-4000) I bought years ago. On my VMB-3000 I only have Arlo Pro Cameras installed. I also want to insure that if I switch over to the new base station that I WILL NOT loose the free service (7-day storage) I have when I bought and started my account.
How can I switch the base stations. Thank you

1. You mentioned that I can keep the "older" hub active and place elsewhere in my home to get better coverage? Is this correct and do I need to do anything other than shown in the attached picture?
If you need to use both bases to get more coverage, you'd need to move some of the Pro cameras back to the old base. Those should be the closest cameras to that base.

2. You mentioned a workaround to add more cameras. Can you provide a resource for this.
The workaround is to set up a second account. You'd put the older base (and it's cameras) in the other account. Then use the friend account feature to share the cameras with your main account.
I don't recommend doing this now. Arlo is slowly rolling a new user interface, which currently has some issues related to the friend account feature. So it'd be best to let this wait.

The 7-day free storage is associated with the cameras, and will not be lost if you change to a different base.
Note there is a limit of 5 unsubscribed cameras per account - if you have more than that (any Arlo model), then the free storage would be lost on the Pros. (There are a couple ways around that, so follow up if that is relevant to you).

You'd need to first add the new base station to your account using "add device" in the app or browser.
Then remove the cameras you want to shift to the new base from the account, and re-onboard them to the new base (again using "add device").
If you end up shifting all the cameras, you can then remove the old base. Note you can use both bases (putting them in different parts of the house) - that can improve the signal quality.

THank you very much for the very fast and clear response. I have 5 cameras hooked up to the VMB-3000. I tried to add the VMB-4000 and Arlo told me "you exceeded your device limit" and asked me to subscribe. Any advice on that?
MUCH APPRECIATED

StevenB,
I stand corrected. The app/browser did initially inform me that I needed to use a subscription to add more cameras/devices. But I reset the new hub, added it, then removed cameras and readded them to the new hub and all is right with the world. THANKS!
I have two more questions:
1. You mentioned that I can keep the "older" hub active and place elsewhere in my home to get better coverage? Is this correct and do I need to do anything other than shown in the attached picture?
2. You mentioned a workaround to add more cameras. Can you provide a resource for this.
Thanks!
