I saw that you can have zones q/ Arlo Q, but I really think zones need to be enabled in Arlo/Arlo Pro

Apparently they're working on it but it must be a logistical nightmare for the way these cameras work

Arlo Q is a powered camera that uses pixal type motion detection. The camera is essentially always on so it has this type of functionality because you can "zone out" areas in the video feed. Arlo/Arlo PRO do not have this type of motion detection. They use a PIR (an infrared type sensor). Since the "camera" portion of arlo is essentially asleep until the PIR tells it to "wake up" to record, there are not likely to ever be zones in the traditional sense with ARLO systems. I'm currently in a beta test program that allows my camera to distinquish the difference between animal, people and vehicle but it causes a slight delay in my notifications because arlo must first transmit the video the cloud, have the cloud 'analyze the video' then send back a response to me. I'd imagine any type of 'zone' would have to work the same way, go to arlo, scan the video, check for movement in the 'zone' and then send it back down. This uses a lot of cloud computing resources and I'd imagine it would be (if ever) rolled out as more of a premium feature but right now that's only speculation. I can tell you the beta I'm in for arlo smart, when smart becomes available to all, is going to run like $3.99 a camera (per month) so i'd imagine this zone type feature to also have an additonal cost. Again, only speculation based on current data available. Good luck.

Arlo can tell the difference between each camera, so it shouldn't be that hard to set camera 1,3,&5 on one scheulde, 2&4 on a sep. schedule... There are other camreas using PIR that do this...

This is all information that is officially available: What is Arlo Smart and how do I benefit from it? Nothing Top Secret here. 🙂
ArloKevinR,
You can currently set specific cameras to be on and off during certain times. This can be accomplished by creating custom modes and utilizing these within the schedule feature:
How do I create a mode for my Arlo Pro Wire-Free camera?
How can I set a schedule for my camera in my Arlo account?
You will need to create a mode with rules for cameras 1, 3, and 5 and then a second mode with rules for cameras 2 and 4. Then schedule those custom modes for the desired times within the schedule feature.

PLEASE do something about this zone issue! The batteries on my Arlo last whooping 2 to 3 weeks right now and I have to climb on the roof every time to exchange them! The camera is basically recording 24/7 because in one corner there is a street with some medium traffic. If I could exclude this corner from the motion detection, that would help immensely.

They sent out an email with a link to a YouTube video — https://youtu.be/jSWZXsGU_6E
The comment section is disabled now because people were very put off by the $3.99 per camera, per month.

Can you mask the PIR sensor with some tape? It’d be good to have a way for the arlo app to help you calibrate the PIR. - so you aim where you want, put a bit of tape to cover some of the field of view, the walk around I front of it and have the app tell you if you’re in an active area
