If you investigate in the battery compartment you will find s micro USB hook up. Use this for constant battery power.

We do not recommend charging the camera using the micro-usb port. This port was not designed as a charging port and doing so may cause damage to the camera and void the warranty.

The USB port will only get 5v (as it's a standard ), the cameras run on a higher voltage level and that would increase the current thru the port...

As mentioned, it may fry.
