I just got the 2nd gen 2k doorbell  I wish I read this subreddit before I bought it) and after install I pressed the button. Chime 2 rings, video connected, all good. However I notice that my old mechanical chime is buzzing (the reason why I got a new doorbell. Yes, I know you can fix replace chime, but I wanted an upgrade to a doorbell cam). I find out that you need something called a power kit to bypass the chime…but Arlo no longer sells this?! So…I found out in the app you can “disable” the mechanical chime. And it works. However, internet search (ok…ChatGPT), is telling me that this may be bad for the chime and trickle charging?! Is it ok to just disable the mechanical chime from the app, or do I need to somehow acquire this Power Kit that arlo no longer sells?

The AVD1001 is the only Arlo doorbell that needs the powerkit. The other doorbells only trickle-charge from the doorbell power.

What is the voltage (VAC) and power (VA) of the transformer?

Was the doorbell fully charged when you installed it?
