I was using Geofencing to turn on ARM when we left and DISARM when we arrived.   I think I figured out how to do this with the new App.

BUT I also armed the cameras at night when we are home and disarmed in the morning.   How do I do this with the new app?

Leave and Arrive both seem better but both are not perfect- they still miss a few times.

Arm Home at night when anyone is present, otherwise, if no one is there, it should be Arm Away

You want to switch to Arm Away when everyone leaves.  If the system is already in Arm Away, then there is no need to switch.  So the "Leave" automation needs to be enabled in Arm Home and Standby - otherwise it will not run when people leave.

Similarly, you want to switch Standby when someone arrives (and the system is in Arm Away).  So the arrive notification needs to be enabled in Arm Away, but not the other modes.

As far as the schedule goes, the two schedule automations should be enabled in both Arm Home and Standby, as you don't want them to switch when the system is in Arm Away, but you do want them to switch at when someone is home.

Generally, you need to enable the automations in the modes you want them to switch from, not the modes they are switching to.

FYI, be careful when posting arrive and leave screenshots, as they show your location on the map.  I rejected those from the moderation queue to protect your privacy.  It's best to black out (or otherwise obscure) those maps.

The basic idea is to reserve use of  "Arm Away" for when you actually are away.  Set up Arm Home to also arm all your cameras.

Then schedule a mode change to Arm Home at night, and another to Standby in the morning.

Geofencing "Leave " should change to "Arm Away".  "Arrive" is a problem, as you need to pick a mode (either "Standby" or "Arm Home") in the automation.  Probably safest to switch to "Arm Home", and then remember to manually switch to standby if you arrive during the day.

The enable lists are tricky.  You want

  • the two schedule automations to be enabled in both Arm Home and Standby
  • Leave to be enabled in all three modes
  • Arrive to be only enabled in Arm Away.

If this doesn't work, please post screenshots of all the automations.

Thanks!  I'll see if it works.

I can't get it to work the way it used to work, so appreciate advice & help.

I have two devices.

All of my cameras are outside.

I want to:

Arm when both devices are gone

Disarm when either device arrives

When we are home, Arm at 10PM and Disarm at 6AM- we like to see the animals that are around our house.

I noticed that the web version had better options for me like "everyone leaves"

I tried to upload screenshots, but got an error.

Suggestions are appreciated!!

png and jpg should work.

Note you won't see the image until it is manually reviewed and approved.  That happened in your case, but it looks like you then deleted (or never completed) the posts they were in.  I approved all of them except one that showed your location.  You should mask the goefence map out if you repost them.

While many of your screenshots aren't complete (I can't see what mode you are changing to), it looks like your enable lists are not set correctly.  So review what I said above

The enable lists are tricky.  You want

  • the two schedule automations to be enabled in both Arm Home and Standby
  • Leave to be enabled in all three modes
  • Arrive to be only enabled in Arm Away.

These lists are NOT the same as the mode you are switching to in the action section of the automation.

Sorry I didn't get a change to reply earlier, but here's the screenshots of my current configuration including incorporating your suggestions.

For your schedule to work, you need "Standby Night" to be enabled in "Arm Home", and "Home Morning" to be enabled in "Standby".

For Geofencing, "Leave" should be disabled in "Arm Away".

I'm confused.  Here's what I like it to do:

Arm Away- when everyone leaves

Standby- when anyone arrives or is present

Arm Home at night when anyone is present, otherwise, if no one is there, it should be Arm Away

When someone is home, I want to go to Arm Home at night, and go back Standby in the morning.

Maybe "Standby Night" and "Home Morning " Routine are not well named.  Standby Night changes from Standby to Arm Home at 10PM, and "Home Morning" changes from Arm Home to Standby at 7AM.

Things are working better- thanks for your help!

But "Arrive" is flakey.  I'm literally in my house right now and the Geofence map shows me there, but "Anyone Arrives" has not triggered so I'm still in Arm Away.

Sometimes "Arrive" works and sometimes it doesn't.

Look forward to suggestions!  TIA!!

I've found that also (and have no solution for it).

Has the geofencing improved at all over the last few App updates or in general?
