My camera will not sync

After my batteries died and were replaced my camera will no longer connect with the base station.
I have removed the batteries and put fresh ones in. When I do I hear a light humming coming from the camera.
I press both the sync button on the camera and on the base station but nothing happens. No lights of any color show on the camera.

You might have a defective camera or it's somehow gone weird. There's a USB port on the camera that can be used to try to reset/recover the camera butni don't recall details. I'll search for the thread(s) about this but in the meantime maybe someone else can jump in here.
