Hi All,

Just checking to see if notifications are broken (again) for everyone.  Or is I am somehow just lucky.
Many folks may remember the debacle back in August/September when Arlo broke notifications and other features for folks with security cameras setup.  Items wouldn't be labeled correctly, recordings were removed form the feed, notifications wouldn't work correctly, and a lot of other issues.  It appears, at least for me, that these issues are back.

Smart notifications are no longer working.  Vehicles pass my house and are no longer labeled as vehicles - they are labeled just as motion - which means I get a notification every time this happens even though I have turned off vehicle notifications.  Everything is my feed is now just labeled as "motion".  If I turn on the "smart notification" for vehicles the system no labels it correctly - and of course sends me a notification I don't want - because I have turned on that smart notification.  There is literally no way for me to turn this off now other than get no notifications at all - or not be able to find something I need because items are no longer labeled correctly you can't actually filter them.

This is the EXACT behavior that Arlo introduced and then rolled back.  I suspect they have once again, quietly, rolled it out.  There is no logical reason for these changes other than they are attempts by Arlo to reduce costs for video storage and AI.  Otherwise, none of the reasons they previously stated for these changes makes any sense since every "issue" they raised could be solved by the tools already in place.

For those not familiar - here is a long thread with information about what happened before: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Secure/Not-capturing-events-if-not-on-smart-notification/m-p/2416...

Just checking to see if anyone else is seeing this behavior back again.

Are you still seeing this same behavior?

Yes.  In fact it is even worse now.

The ONLY items it is picking up is people - that is now in consistent.

According to Arlo, not a single car has passed in front of my house all day - which is not correct.  I drove my own car past the house.

I just watched 4 cars pass in front of the house and they might as well have had a harry potter clock of invisibility on them.

It also suggests that not a single person or animal has passed in front of my house (other than myself going in and out of the front door).

I have little idea what Arlo is doing behind the scenes or why they are doing it but I would like them to fix it.

Just put back the functionality I paid for and was present before - and why I bought the camera.

Can you make sure all the software is up to date?

Hi - Yes, it is up-to-date.  My phone is set to auto-update apps.  there a no updates for the app.

My Phone operating system is up-to date as well.

I have restarted my phone multiple times.

I have logged into and out of the app.

I have scarified a chicken as well  (well, eaten one that was sacrificed for me).

I have had this device for 2+ years - I know how it works and I know what it did previously.  There are tons of activities that would normally be there that are not.  My neighbor had his fenced replaced today.  There were multiple vehicles parked in front of my house, multiple vehicles that drove by and not one is showing up in my library (as motion or vehicle).  This is not normal.

At 9:57 am a truck drove by my house.  It is picked up on the camera.  The video is labeled as "person".  There is not a single human being in a single frame of that video.

This is EXACTLY what happened last time.  Arlo made changes, didn't tell anyone and broke functionality.  I now have nothing but "people" in my feed.  (Yes, my filter is set correctly).  it's labeling things incorrectly, it is not picking up activity it used to pick up - the functionality is broken.

So I guess it isn't exactly what happened before.  It seems they have decided to label everything as "person" now.

Maybe Arlo needs to do some more extensive testing before they make changes - this is ridiculous.  My camera is useless at this point (again).

The issue is on Arlos side.

OK, deleting the app and reinstalling it fixed my problem.

Thanks for letting me know that.  I had tried that already and it didn't work for me.
