Live Streaming use battery?

Will watching the live streaming use up the battery faster?  Might be a dumb question I suppose.  I'm guessing it probably does.

Also, I live in a pretty cold climate.  Winters can get well below zero.  I've read this might affect battery life but will it damage the camera?

Any activity on the camera will shorten battery life.  The more video, live or scheduled recording, will reduce the period between battery changes.  Most folks, like myself, seem to run through the first set quickly due to lots of putzing with the cameras but it will straighten out as you just let the system do it's thing.  And my cameras were fine after last winter's cold (Rochester, NY) but battery life will be affected by the low temps - it's a chemistry thang...
