Hi Guys- Just curious, is the Smart home base station a wifi network base station or is it strictly for establishing an Arlo camera network? Thanks!

Only Arlo wireless cameras can connect to the base's dedicated WiFi.

Thanks for the quick reply. What's the advantage vs. connecting each device to my regular wifi network then? Speed? Security?
Asking because I already own an Arlo Q, and want to add another camera so deciding between the cordless Arlo and another Arlo Q. I notice the cordless Arlo's are for sale with the netgear base station. Thanks!

The base uses it's own WiFi for security but also to allow the base to be positioned where the wireless cameras get best signal, which isn't always near the router.
There's also a difference in operation since the Q cameras don't interoperate with anything else while the wireless cameras all work together if you set up appropriate rules.
