Is Arlo spyware?

Some time ago I was listening to a radio station while having my Arlo camera "on standby" in the same room. When I went outside of the house my phone was playing the same radio station!! Clearly, my Arlo camera was recording sound while being "on  standby" without my permission or knowledge. Was it recording vodeo as well? I do not know, but recording sound is bad enough.

Is Arlo spyware? I do not know, but is sure looks like it. The company can obviously turn the camera on and off, but not without my action or at least permission. Are they recording sound and possibly video for a third party, private or government? It would not be surprising. Smartphones have been spying on us since iPhone 1. This would be just yet another piece in the Orwellian world we live in. Be careful what you do and say in front of your camera!!

Did you initiate a live stream on your phone and leave it streaming? If so, that would explain the behavior you experienced.
