A schedule will allow you to select different modes for different periods of the day.
The mode contains the camera rules you want applied when it has been selected by the base or via the schedule.
Each rule, one per camera can trigger, recording, alerts etc.
Custom modes can help with different requirements.
If a mode does not have a camera rule then when selected the camera will be disarmed.

I have 4 cams connected to the base station. I want two on a schedule and the other two on a separate schedule.
Do I need to create two modes with the two cams I want on the same schedule?
Then do I go back to the schedule tab on the base station and set a schedule for each of the modes I created above Xl?

To clarify you can have only one schedule setup.
The schedule mode decides what mode is selected during the day. If no mode is selected in the schedule then all cameras remain disarmed.
A mode or custom mode can contain multiple camera rules, one for each camera. If no rule for a camera the camera remains disarmed.
To manage changes with monitoring during the day you need to have camera rules in each mode used in the schedule.
E.g. The “Armed” mode usually has a camera rule for each camera so when you leave the property and you choose the Armed mode all cameras will begin monitoring.
When you return home and choose a different mode where it only has rules for the outside cameras then the indoor cameras are disarmed since the rules are missing.
When using the schedule your periodically switching between modes so same scenario.

I am assuming you have the "Library" experience, and not the new "Feed" experience. (If you see "Library" in the app, then you have the "Library" experience).
Now you have the "Armed" mode that arms all 4 cameras, and "Disarmed" that disarms all 4 cameras.
You first need to create two more custom modes -
- one that arms only the first two cams (custom1). When active, custom1 will disarm the second 2 cameras.
- one that arms only the second two cams (custom2) When active, custom2 will disarm the first 2 cameras.
Read this:
Then you schedule the modes (scheduling with the "Library" experience always schedules modes, not cameras).
- scheduling Armed when you want all 4 cameras armed
- scheduling custom1 when you only want the first two cams armed
- scheduling custom2 when you only want the second two cams armed
- scheduling Disarmed when you don't want any cameras armed.
This approach would be different with the "Feed" experience - but that isn't something I've tried, so I don't know exactly how.
