There can be various reasons for this. Try rebooting the base and open and close the battery door to get to a known configuration. If still having issues, try removing and resyncing the camera. Signal quality can be an issue when another wireless device that also uses the 2.4GHz band causes interference. And sometimes, despite your best efforts, it just seems to happen and you have no control. I get these on occasion but generally not often. A reboot is my first step.
