So geo fencing had been working for well over a year and now it’s not, anyone else ??

I knew it was only a matter of time until Arlo broke something again, useless

We have identified the issue where Geofencing (Arrive/Leave) automations may stop triggering automatically. A fix has been developed, tested, and confirmed working. It is currently awaiting Apple review and will be available soon. I will continue to provide updates here. Thank you for your patience

The Arlo development team is currently investigating reports of this behavior. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share with the community.

Thank you for the update, appreciated. FYI, updated app to 6.29.1 version (iOS), and geolocation is operational again. Thank you! hope everyone else’s fixes is as easy as updating the app (was for me so no complaint).

HI,

Thanks for the update. For me it now works for ANYONE ARRIVING, but not for EVERYONE LEAVING.

It worked before that for both ARRIVING AND LEAVING.

I thought I wasn’t the only one. I definitely agree. Since the update, the geofencing stopped working. I’ve updated my iPhone to the latest iOS, updated the app, made sure all the correct location settings were enabled. Still, no avail. It’s really annoying. I, too am locked in given I have a whole Arlo set up. Please fix this issue soon.

Mine is hit or miss if it works, But I am not getting the notification when it changes so i have to open the app to check, Also opening the App may also force it to switch if it hasn't already. I am getting the notification for motion but not all.

I have the latest version of the App 6.29.1 on my IPhone and geofencing is still not working.

If Arlo is going to claim they are providing a Security System, then they should be providing notifications to users when issues arise that may have a negative impact on their security system and the function of it. This is a perfect example. I went 8 days believing my geofencing was working when it wasn't. The possibilities of things that could have happened to me or my home are limitless because of this issue and Arlo failed to notify me that they knew they had an issue and it wasn't working properly. When someone is paying for a security subscription this would appear to me to make Arlo liable for anything that would have happened to this time, because of their failure to notify active users with paid subscriptions. As Users we should not stand for this type of support from Arlo and fully expect more. We as paid subscription users should be able to force Arlo to do better. Maybe it is time we start escalating these types of issues to someone that will listen and actually work to make things better for the users.

I was considering a subscription since they were having Memorial Day sale.  This debacle made my mind up for me for sure.

Guess what, I just accidently stumbled into this site: https://status.arlo.com/?_ga=2.192748712.347285781.1617940422-1172073465.1617940422

I happen to find it on their Dutch site, don't see on their US site.

Apparently this exists but Arlo does not point users to it nor do their support staff know it exists....

Has anybody seen this before?

I'm curious if Arlo has any real type of beta testing process for their app revisions. If not, then maybe this is something they should consider and ask for volunteers from the community to participate in it. It seems Arlo rolls out revisions fixing one problem and breaking others. A through beta testing program would go a long way to correcting these type of failures.

It's well known here, and the Arlo mods do point folks to it.

For example, see @BrookeN's reply on this old thread:

Though it would be good if there was a link on the Arlo support page and in the support center of the app.

They do. Anyway, they say they do.

You can enrol on their Android/Apple beta testing through the Play store.

As regards testing firmware, there's a process, but I personally found it to be convoluted and complex (and focuses a lot on disclaimers), and I actually got an impression that they don't really want any testers. To be honest, I didn't know if I was part of that process or not after enrolling on it, or whether still waiting to be approved.

It's a fact though that their software isn't tested thoroughly enough, as otherwise they'd not be any problems with it (major problems like functions not working). I really don't understand how they can try to fix one thing and then break a number of others. I've had my 'new user experience' app for over a couple of years now, and it's insulting to me as a user how bad this app continues to be.

One thing for sure: I'm sick of devoting my time and spending energy to point out issues with the app (and for free, as there isn't even a programme of incentives!) where Arlo software engineers are probably getting paid big money to do that as part of their job description.

They say that they test the releases before pushing them.  Beta testing is a bit different, since it is field-testing with customers.

Sometimes they have done a beta test cycle on a new feature.  Sometimes they might also push an update to folks who've signed up for field trial before rolling it out to everyone else.  But AFAIK, most app releases are not beta-tested by customers before being pushed out.

FWIW, I am not seeing an option to do that in the apple play store.

There is an old community link that still works here:

Though I don't know if the "create account" option in the test portal is still functional or not.

No, it's still broken. The "everyone leaves" works fine, but "anyone arrives" never triggers.  We've checked the location/background app/battery settings on all of our devices and they are all as expected/required. I don't understand how you've broken it so bad in the new software, worked great beforehand 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The broad outage was only for iPhone users - you are running Android, correct?

Did you double-check that that "anyone arrives" is still enabled in the "Arm Away" mode?

@wonkypenguin The "Anybody arrives" rule under Arm Away is currently disabled. So when the system is in Arm Away (because everyone left), and then someone arrives home, the rule to switch back to armHome won't trigger because it's turned off. Can you toggle this On and test agin.

This is still not working for iPhone users Arlo… the good thing is that my Schedule is working so everything is armed at night. Let’s hope for Arlo’s side that nothing got stolen at daytime when geofence etc not working….😡

Yes, all of our devices are Android.

It's definitely enabled when in ArmAway mode.

It wasn't, but I toggled it off and on, and it's still broken (see above post)

I agree with Rbmx1980. Schedules work just fine, but not the geofencing.

I am not getting a Notification when it switches from home to away or vice versus I need to open app to check. It also isn't always switching still.

This morning Geofencing wasn’t working again for me.
Then I checked and surprise, my iPad was enabled for geofencing when I erased it long ago.
Also, I saw last update 6.30.0.
I don’t know which one fixed the issue. Now it’s working fine again…

Just if it works for someone else.
