I've got v6.30.0 of the App, and fir the past week or so my geofencing automations have stopped working.

I noticed this was an issue with an earlier version of the App, and I think it was resolved in v6.28.0 but it's not sorted my issues out.

It had been working successfully for several years until now.

Any  ideas on how to resolve this?

HI @mykostin

Thanks for the update, I did receive your PM. Let me inquire with the team regarding your desired custom schedule/geofence and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks.

What I'm noticing is:

1. Schedule works fine

2. Arm away never activates via geofencing when everyone leaves

3. Standby only activated via geofencing when I return. My partner never triggers any of the geofencing

Hello,

@ShayneS has looped me into your request and I would like to try to help you here as well.  As I understand, you would like your geofence to work in tandem with your schedule.  In order to achieve this, you MUST use custom modes.

1) First, please enable custom modes on your app.

2) Try this on just one camera first, please setup your schedule this way for every day

9pm to 12am - Armed12am to 7am - Armed

3) Then go to Geofence and set it up this way

Leave -> ArmedArrive -> Schedule

What this will do is every time everyone leaves, your camera will be armed.  When anyone arrives, your camera will look at the schedule to determine what mode it should be: if its between 9pm and 7am it will be Armed; otherwise, it will be Disarmed.

If needed, here's an article that will provide your with details on how to setup custom modes: https://kb.arlo.com/000063512/How-to-set-up-an-Arlo-Custom-Mode

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Adam,

Ok, I think I have the custom modes set for my system now. Tested it out during the day, and the geofencing seems to work now, both when we leave, and when we return.

I've also set up a schedule for each device under the custom mode, but that isn't working as expected.

The time I had it set to arm all my devices came and went, and nothing happened.

If I go into Modes-> Custom Modes, I have to manually change each device from having a tick next to "Geofence" to having a tick next to "Schedule" for the schedule to actually function (see screen shot)

This seems to indicate to me that I can have the system set up automatically on geofencing or on schedule, but not on both.

Is that correct?

The other issue I have is my partners phone isn't being recognized as being at home, so if I leave and she stays, the system arms. Or if we both leave, the system arms, and when she returns before me, it stays armed. She has the latest version of the App and has Location Services set to "Always" for the Arlo App. Any ideas how to fix this issue as well?

No.  If you are using geofence in custom modes, then generally you set "home" to "schedule"and "away" to "arm".

So the system follows the schedule when you are home, but arms the cameras 24x7 when you are away.

Either you use custom modes exclusively or you use standard modes+schedule/geofence automations exclusively.  You can't mix them.

Is her phone listed in your "available geofencing devices"?  Press the profile in the upper left and then "privacy center" to check.

OK, I'm getting mixed information about how to achieve what I want.  I've had three different responses, and none of them seem to be suggesting the same thing.

I originally had things set up using Automations/Geofencing, but that prevented geofencing from working
Then I went and set up all the Custom Modes, but that prevents both scheduling and geofencing working at the same time.

Is there a guide, or can one of you outline a method, that details how I can set up the following:

1. A schedule that arms all my devices in "Arm Home" mode at a set time of the evening, even if one or both of us are home

2.  A schedule that disarms all my devices into Standby mode at a set time in the morning ONLY if one or both of us are home.  If neither of us are home, it switches from Armed Home to Armed Away mode

3. Geofencing that disarms all devices and goes into Standby when either of us arrives

4. Geofencing that arms all devices and goes into Arm Away when both of us are away

I essentially had this all working up until about 2 weeks ago, and the latest version of the App seems to have so many different options to set things up, its not clear which method is going to achieve what I want.

Regarding my partner not triggering anything on Geofencing, I can confirm that her phone is listed under the Devices being used for Geofencing.

Regards,

Mike

Again, THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

First set up the schedule for the camera or hub - I suggest using a PC (my.arlo.com) for this, since it allows you to schedule across midnight.

Then select geofence for the camera or hub- do this in the app (as I am seeing it grayed out on my.arlo.com).    Set up "Arrive" to change mode to "Schedule".  Then set up "Leave" the change the mode to "Armed".

Here is a screenshot for the geofence set up for one of my base stations:

In the case of custom modes, you aren't using "Arm Home", "Arm Away", or "Standby".   All you'd need in your case are the built-in custom modes "Arm" and "Disarm" and the schedule.

The schedule applies when you are home, so it arms the cameras in the evening and disarms them in the morning.  Geofence (as shown above) arms the cameras when you both leave, and resumes the schedule when one of you returns.

Note you do need to repeat this setup for each wifi-connected camera and each hub.
