Recently re-did all our cameras in house, switching from a HomeKit Secure Video set up to Arlo.

One area we loved for HomeKit was the ability for the cameras to basically turn off if either my wife or I came / were home, and then on when both of us were out of house.

I have tried so hard to set this same system up in Arlo, I’ve invited my wife to the home, ensured location services are on for both devices, and set up the automation modes in Arlo, but for the life of me, it doesn’t seem to even notice my wife’s phone. The system will always arm when I leave (even if she’s still home) and will disarm when I arrive. If we were both to be out, and she arrived home, it would stay activated.

I know Arlo’s Geofencing features are, shall we say, in a challenging place, but has anyone gotten something like this to work?

Does your wife's phone show up in your "Available Geofencing Devices" list?

To see that,

  • Press the profile icon in the top left
  • Select "Privacy Center"
  • Select "Account" if not already there
  • Select "Available Geofencing Devices"

If it's not there, your wife needs to add it from her phone.  Make sure both phones have unique names (and not the default names).  Sometimes app updates result in "ghost" devices showing up, and it's easier to identify them if the real devices are uniquely named.
