Can you individually activate/deactivate motion detection on each camera?

Can anyone give me just a little more information on scheduling individual cameras using the rules. I'm feeling very dense right now and can't seem to figure out what I need to do.

I have 4 cameras.

Two will be outside and I want them to always record on motion.

Two will be on a schedule of 8-5 M-F and 11pm-5:30am M-F and 11pm-8am SS

I also want to be able to switch them to record on motion when this schedule deviates.

Is this possible?

I think I found the answer to my questions... https://community.netgear.com/t5/Arlo-Knowledge-Base/Can-you-individually-activate-deactivate-motion...

I'm not sure that's the right answer... when I try to set a second mode it shortens my first mode.

ie: I have Outside set to run 24 hours of motion. Then I try to set Front Door (inside) to run 7pm-midnight and it shortens the Ouside to run from 12am - 6:59pm. I need them to overlap. Is this possible?

Modes can be a litlle tricky but your getting there...

You haveto remember ONLY ONE MODE runs at a time... they can not overlap.

So if you have cam A,B,C, D and want to run 2(a+b) and then add the 2 (c+d) as part of the schedule you have to add more modes

So you have as default ALL ON and ALL OFF ( only need one off )

Add/create a new mode for cams A + B

Add a new mode for cams C+ D

So ALL OFF is when not needed, first part of schedule would be mode AB, second half would change over to mode CD , times when all are wanted on  would be ALL MOTION

hope this makes sense

ps (if you wanted 3 cams on then you'd need another mode of A+B+C )

I keep thinking I get it and then I don't...

Here's what I think I need to do...

Set Mode All ON 24 hours a day for all 4 cameras.

Then have another mode to turn off cameras 3 and 4 at the times I want them off? So effectively Mode 2 would only affect the cameras I want off and the others would remain on?

Yes.... If all cameras are on from 1 am to 6am and then you start another mode turning off 2 at 601am the remaining cameras will be on.

Like i said, Only one mode at a time, the new mode will over writethe previous ( no overlap )

In realtiy, all the modes have the same info in them ( all your cameras ), The only differnce is if the camera is ACTIVE ( green check mark ) or NOT ( black check mark )

Thank you. I think I have it set up now. One last thing... can I manually turn on motion recording even if it's scheduled off?

Ok, I think I just had a lightbulb moment... I can activate modes at any time. The Settings page shows me the currently active mode and if I change that it stays on the mode I've selected until either I change it again or the schedule does. At least that's how I assume this works 😉

Yes, even if a mode is on or off, you can manually start a recording at the live view screen

(btw, if motion is set on , the running man will be green. If you manually start a recording, he will go gray as in off. But, the min you stop the recording, the man will return to it's active state )

yes, modes can be changed any time from the mode page.   If the schedule is set on ( you can turn off the schedule without changing it ) via the toggle it will change the mode at the proper time

I would like to be able to simply go to the Cameras dashboard and click a button that says "Set Motion Detection On" (or off). E.g. let me click the little guy that is running to turn it on or turn it off.

Why am I forced to go to a completely different screen and setup modes to do something as simple as turn each camera on or off individually.

Because that's the way it currently is. You can add kudos to existing threads in the Submit an Idea area to hopefully change that.
