Can I use my own router thats not connected to the internet?

I live with random roommates and I want to use my Arlo in my room to make sure no one goes in there without my permission while I'm gone. I understand you have to use the base station with a router, but the router is in the living room, which I don't want my roommates to know I have one. Can I use my personal router thats not connected to the internet, will I still able to use the cameras?

Without a working internet connection the Arlo system will not function. If your personal router were to have an internet connection it would work without issue.
