My FIOS router has all ports in use. Can I connect my Arlo hub to my router using the USB ports on both?
Thanks,
Craig

Hi craigwalker,
The USB ports on the base station are for future use. You can only use Ethernet connection to connect it to your network.
Kind regards,

Hi craigwalker,
Since all of the ports of your FIOS router are used, you may use an unmanaged switch to extend your local network so that you could have additonal ethernet ports. Picture this out: you may unplug one of your desktop PC from your FIOS router then connect the unmanaged switch to the port where you have unplugged the desktop PC then you may connect your desktop PC as well as the Arlo base station to any of the ports of the unmanaged switch.
Regards,

Just buy a Gigabit switch on amazon. Anyone will work with the fios router(a 4 port switch will only have 3 usable ports so you will only have one spare"PC,Arlo"). Its also cheaper to buy all your cables on amazon vs a retail store.

I have an extender on my network, and need to have the base station at that end of the house... it only has a USB port to extend... Would find it very useful to have wireless or USB connection to the base station

Google "usb to ethernet adapter" - there's lots out there. Whether they would work in this scenario would require testing, especially if the USB is low speed. You'd need a minimum of 1Mbs throughput from the adapter through the extender for best results. Seems possible but inserting adapters just adds to the complexity. An extender with an Ethernet port would prolly be a better choice.
