I was looking for information about hooking up my Arlo cameras to my Google Nest system, and came across the following warning on one of Arlo’s blog pages:

Your saved video recordings will not be as secure if you only connect to your local Wi-Fi; anyone with your password could potentially have access to these private recordings”

That seems like a massive security risk! Is this accurate?

It looks incorrect to me.  Arlo only shows live feeds on Google Home, and access to Arlo recordings can only be done using your Arlo account credentials (whether you have a base or not).

I'm tagging @JamesC - I think that blog article should be revised.

The posts on that blog read like they’ve been created by AI to be honest. It wouldn’t surprise me if something snuck in that was wrong.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. There are no security concerns when using local Wi-Fi...

I will track this down with the teams internally and request correction.

Thanks!
